Barbados AutoGrass!

Our intention in developing this new motorsport discipline in Barbados is to make exciting, affordable racing accessible to everyone while providing a stepping-stone to other forms of motorsport like RallySprint and RallyCross which require similar levels of loose-surface car control . Vaucluse Raceway Motorsport Club has opted to focus development on Class Eight cars (bike-engined spaceframes of 600cc and 1350cc) and to jumpstart local interest by inviting guests from UK and Ireland to race in Barbados. In the long-term, autograss racing will be hosted as a support series for RallyCross but for 2009 Barbados AutoGrass will be a stand-alone event.

Around our Independence bank-holiday weekend at the end of November we have built an eight-day motorsport festival that includes three days of practice, qualifying and racing as well as more than a few social gatherings to introduce guests to local motorsport competitors, marshals and officials. Over the past nine years we have developed a special kind of motorsport atmosphere here in our little action-packed island and we welcome the new opportunities, challenges and friends that this new discipline brings.

For those who have never experienced the excitement of Autograss, a youtube search for "autograss class 8" would be very entertaining. See you all at the track!
