BARBADOS RALLYCROSS INTERNATIONAL - One of the most thrilling and challenging motor sport disciplines in the world hosted in an environment of tropical sunshine, competitive driving and social atmosphere.
Barbados - 166 square miles of coral reef that popped out of the sea a few hundred thousand years ago to become world famous for it's tropical beaches and island lifestyle. Since the first settlers came in 1627 and established the world's third oldest House of Parliament in 1639, our people have worked tirelessly to keep our society and culture up-to-date with the rest of the world while retaining the very essence of Caribbean island life. Things sometimes move at a slow pace here, especially when we take the time to enjoy the weather and pleasant company. It's a place where things still get done, despite the relaxed atmosphere. You'll find that we're quite a resourceful bunch, if you need help with anything, just ask.
Rallycross - This incredible sport of ‘rally car circuit racing’ was invented in the 70s and became hugely popular in the 80s. When GroupB rally cars were banned from competing on European special stages due to their incredible performance and associated dangers they found their way onto purpose-built multi-surface circuits across UK and Europe. RallyCross drivers soon became national and international heroes while battling door-to-door and wheel-to-wheel in packs of up to ten cars trying to cross the finish line first. The sport has since moved on and developed its own unique identity while the cars retain a level of performance that is unmatched in the modern rallying world.
The sport of rallying is deeply engrained in Barbadian culture so RallyCross was a natural progression for us. The Vaucluse Raceway multi-surface circuit lends well to conversion from RallySprint to RallyCross and back again and has been hailed by international drivers as one of the best anywhere. The course is quite challenging and wide enough for some serious racing, while drivers and spectators alike enjoy a driving style that is unique to the cars and people who make up the rallying genre.
International - Year after year we welcome drivers, co-drivers, service crews, marshals, sponsors and spectators from around the world to help us grow our sport and events into truly special social and competitive occasions. A Caribbean holiday filled with social activities, cruises, beach parties, dinners and some seriously competitive driving is what this event is really about. Take some time to get to know the competitors, organizers, service personnel, marshals and fans. We're all here to enjoy the atmosphere that good motorsport brings and be part of this unique experience.
